About Plan5500
Plan5500 is a free, independent tool that makes public U.S. employee benefit-plan filings easier to read. Every year, most U.S. retirement and benefit plans file a Form 5500 with the U.S. Department of Labor. Those filings are public, but they live in large government datasets that are hard for an ordinary person to search. Plan5500 organizes that public information into clear, comparable profiles for plans, employers, service providers, states, and cities.
What you can do here
- Look up an employer and the retirement or benefit plans it reports.
- See a plan's reported assets, participants, contributions, income, and expenses.
- Compare reported service-provider compensation (Schedule C).
- Browse the largest plans, top providers, and filings by state and city.
- Learn how to read a Form 5500 in plain English.
Who it helps
Plan participants and curious employees, HR and benefits teams, financial and benefits professionals, journalists and researchers, and anyone who wants to understand a benefit plan's public financial picture — without a login or a paywall.
Where the data comes from
All figures come from public Form 5500 filings published through the U.S. Department of Labor / EBSA (Form 5500, EFAST2) via the EFAST2 system. We present what plan sponsors reported. Some fields may be blank when a filing did not report them, and figures are as reported and may contain errors or omissions. For any important decision, verify against the official filing. See our methodology and data sources.
